Cottingham Springboard kicks ofF
the Festival Season in style!

On Saturday 23rd May, FRCA and the army of talented musicians it looks after, hit the Olive Garden in Cottingham to provide festival goers a cracking afternoon of music.

14 year old Jaimie Smithson starting the proceedings with a mix of songs that were delivered in a confident and entertaining manner, followed by Frankie Flowers who made a welcome return to the group.

Next up were The Late Comers who have been born from some of the young people who attend the Saturday music sessions we run from Kardomah 94. Rob, Elizabeth and Ashley epitomize the sense of togetherness and community that has developed over the past 8 months since moving into new premises. Good on them!

Imogen Hart followed with a set of her own songs, each of which demonstrate the growing talent of this young singer/songwriter. Imogen is currently recording new material and along with a second BBC Introducing session booked, the future looks very bright.

Danielle and Nathan, now going under the name United Two, were next up, and it is very apparent the reason why these two young people now head to Leeds and Hull Universities respectively, to pursue careers in music. They are simply outstanding!!

Last on the bill was the forever improving Emily Halsey who just gets better and better every time she performs. In fact Emily was so impressive, she was invited on to West Hull radio to perform live the following week!

FRCA returned to Cottingham on the Bank Holiday Monday to perform at the Hallgate Sessions, which is run by Darren Bunting and his Music HQ team.

Many of the above artists performed again and with the addition of Lucy Star and Ashley Brown and a brilliant young group comprising of Tyler, Leila, Emily, Trey, Jermaine, Ollie, Tyler and Nathan, it again shows the impact that music is having on these young lives.

Catch all these guys again at The Big Gig at Hull University on Saturday July 11th.
