Children in Need and Stars in Their Eyes

The week beginning 9th November will be remembered as one of those weeks where FRCA seemed to appear everywhere!

It was the Children in Need week, and with the Thursday group having been filmed by the BBC during the October half-term rehearsal session at Marist, along with interviews with Imogen, Elizabeth and Luke being filmed, hopes of seeing some faces known to us on the TV was high.

And then on Thursday November 12th a short feature appeared on the morning Look North bulletin, focussing on Imogen and her participation in FRCA. This was followed by a longer feature on the evening show and we saw Anders, Nichola and Alisha making their big screen debuts!

The following day, Friday the 13th, the Children in Need main event took place and a posse' of Freedom Roaders made their way to Hull City Hall.

Performing live that evening were Imogen, Elizabeth, and closing the night Luke, Rob and Dylan, who not only performed to a packed City Hall but made their way onto the TV as well as live interviews by Iain and Chelsea supported by Ty, Anders and Ethan.

And it didn't finish there; with the release of her debut single Save Me on ALT Records, Imogen received some well deserved airplay on the Humberside BBC Introducing show!

All in all a cracking week

Stars in Their Eyes

Into it's 7th year, the annual Stars in Their Eyes fundraising event took place on Saturday 21st November, this year at O'Rileys courtesy of Darren Bunting.

Jonny and Liam, standing in on guitar at short notice, joined Connor on drums, Andy on Bass, Iain on keyboards and Kay on percussion to produce a brilliant band that supported 10 acts made up of nine of our regular performers plus Mike Aramayo making his Stars debut.

Liam Gallagher, Alison Moyet, Hayley Williams, Alanis Morissette, Anthony Kiedis, The Proclaimers, Sia Furler, Linda Perry, Bono and Anastacia provided the entertainment with Katy as Anastacia eventually winning a close run contest with Lisa finishing as runner-up.

Supported by Steve Rimmer as our compere, Gina Jenkinson, who provided us with a bit of comedy whilst the votes were been counted, and Imogen Hart, the night was again a huge success.

Thanks must go to all the performers; Mike, Katy, Iain, Dan, Jess, Elijah, Paula, Molly, Liam and Jonny who each year give up their time to help raise some essential funds for FRCA. Thanks you!
