The Freedom Road Collective kick oFf the festival period in style!

On Monday June 4th the Freedom Road Collective took over the Hallgate Tavern in Cottingham as part of the Springboard Festival 2012. Over 300 bands and singers graced the stages of several venues across Cottingham during the 4 day Festival and on Monday it was our turn.

In welcoming new talent and providing an opportunity for more young people with the chance to shine and gain performance experience, first up were Angel, John and Kieran who with the use of the Cajon, were fantastic and really got the place buzzing from the off.

Following on were regular talents Lu Cairns with support from Steve, Stevie Mould and Sammie Watson who tried out some new material, before George Bates, playing his 3rd gig of the festival and Joe McKenzie took to the stage continuing the cracking standard on show.

Jess and Livi were next up and they provided the crowd with a series of wonderful harmonies throughout their varied set. All these two need is a decent name for the group and I predict bigger things!

Danielle Gray and Rose Elliott completed the solo acts with excellent performances which left you wanting to hear more from them, before the Gleeks took the stage.

The group of 10 young people aged betwwen 10 and 19 sang several new group numbers which included a brilliant version of "We are Young", before Emmy, Emily, Olivia, Kirsty and Emily sang solo's showing how they too are developing into confident artists.

So that was Springboard 2012; a great start to the festival period which has got everyone excited about the Summer ahead. Look out for the Freedom Road Collective who will be performing at a festival near you!!!!
