Freedom Festival and Beyond
The 2015 summer of festivals concluded with the Freedom Festival; September 4th to the 6th and again FRCA had a major part to play in empowering and supporting many young people to take part.
It all began with a week long Summer School which was help at our offices at Kardomah 94. 30 young people attended and took part in a range of workshops which included singing, songwriting, film-making and percussion, the latter of which included making Cajons.
Throughout the week Danny, Courtney, Dom, Anders, Ethan, Becky, Immie, Nichola and Leila also made Lanterns which were used in the opening procession of the Festival on the Friday evening.
Sam made two excellent films which documented what we did and can be seen via Youtube; these films are to be entered into the 1 Minute Film Festival in November, and The Latecomers went into Fruit Trade studio to record their debut single entitled Home.
The performances were as ever inspiring, from Spellars to Becky from Immie to United 2 and from The Latecomers to the Freedom Road Collective, who closed the proceeding with a brilliant version of "Uptown Funk", the Summer School and the Freedom Festival were simply brilliant.
And now it's back to the regular sessions and workshops with renewed vigor and with lots of new faces.
