NEWS 2 January 2018

Hull's "City of Culture 2017" year
has been a bit of a good one for FRCA!

What a fabulous year we have had. Here's just a few of the highlights!

The Let's Rock event at Brid Spa kicked 2017 off, followed by intense rehearsals and preparation for the Rock Challenge performance at the start of May; we came 2nd this year.

Cottingham Springboard Festival took place at the end of May and which included new young people to the project, and who have now become regulars at the weekly sessions.

The first "Kardomah Gongs", took place in June at which Iain and Immie were presented with an award for Immie's track and video for "Save Me". Late June also heralded Immie's 3rd "BBC Introducing Humberside" session.

We took a trip to Leven Airfield in July for ARAFEST, an organisation which has FRCA as it's main beneficiary. Over £5k was raised for us.

August was very busy indeed. The Youth Stage at Humber Street SESH was reinstated and our stage this year was situated on the Pier. Definitely the best location for us yet.

2 days later, Liam and Luke made a flying visit to Sydney Australia to facilitate workshops at the CREATE Foundations Youth Summit.

It was then the time for Tribfest, which included camping for the young people added. My breakfasts are still legendary (I think!!!)

Liam and Lisa facilitated song-writing workshops at the Creative Voice's "Urban Arts Festival" at the end of August and then early September is was the "Off the Freedom Road" weekend event, running alongside the Freedom Festival.

Working with the "Hull Music Hub", some of our gang participated in a sound engineering course which resulted in a gig in December which they managed, and we again participated at the Regional Children in Need event. Jake, Courtney, Tyler and Leila this year flying the flag for us.

Tribfest's stage outside St. Stephens in a freezing December night, and the Christmas Party, at the wonderful Kardomah 94 closed 2017.

So to all you musicians, singers, actors, dancers, film-makers, peer mentors and all round good young people, may we wish you all a Happy New Year and hope that 2018 brings you all that you wish for. We are privileged to be able to share a part of your lives.

Thank you
