Summer School 2010 just spectacular!!!

FRCA's 3rd Summer School came to a spectacular climax at FRUIT on Friday night when the young people staged a fantastic "Stars in Your Eyes" show which was attended by around 140 people who packed into the newly opened venue. All week the young people had worked hard, to not only put together 10 acts to entertain the audience, but they worked to produce a series of opening films to introduce each act, designed the set using grafitti art, created the artists costumes, hair and make up and worked with Rob to update the website on a daily basis.

The night was won by Dylan and Jordan as "Jedwood", however performances from Dell, Celine and Shannon as Atomic Kitten, Shobal as Eminen, Emily as Cindy Lauper, Sophie as Gabrilla Montez, Mercedes and Hannah with a Glee number, Rose as Sandi Thom, Sammy as Lights, Ben and Molly as Black Eyed Peas and Sammie Watson as Shania Twain were all outstanding and congratulations must go to everyone who took part. You along with all the back and front of stage organisers are all STARS!!

The night also coincided with the official release of Freedom Road's new CD "Catch Me" and the band performed the 4 tracks to the audience and sold CD's which helps raise money for FRCA. Much has been said about Freedom Road recently and they again proved a class act.

This years Summer School was also a residential affair with 18 of the young people staying over at the Lawns in Cottingham, who looked after us with cooked breakfast, pack up for lunch and an evening meal. The residentail also gave the young people the opportunity to live away from home for a few days with activities organised in the evening, the best being the night walk which took place around Bluebell Wood at Raywell.

So that was that for another year. To read more click on the Summer School link, and in the meantime please sign up for the mailing list and you will then recieve regular updates about what is happening in the world of Freedom Road Creative Arts.

Thanks to all who supported the week and in particular to Beney, Lisa, Iain, Hannah, Cat, Mike, Craig, Louise, Rob, Nick, Corrina, Kay and Sue!!!
