Summer starts with some Shining Performances

FRCA kicked off the summer holidays with two outstanding events which included our Wednesday drama group and the Freedom Road Collective.

On Tuesday 26th our Wednesday drama group staged a showcase performance of the work they have been doing over the past few weeks at Northern Theatre. Parents and carers enjoyed excellent perfromances from John and Luke who performed a scene from Blood Brothers; from Paige and Owen whose colourful portrayels of Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge from James and the Giant Peach has the audience enthralled, and from Jacky and Luke, again with a scene from Blood Brothers. The showcase helped demonstrate the growing confidence and skills of the young people and with funding secured from the Woodward Charitable Trust to enable the group continue, we look forward to September when the group meets again after the summer break.

Following this, on Wednesday 27th at the Hull History Centre, it was the Feedom Road Collective's turn as they performed a series of songs which they have been rehearsing in preparation for the busy summer they have in store. Rachael Drew of the History Centre invited the group to perform at one of the Summer Picnics, and all those in who turned up were treated to wonderful afternoon.

Danielle with Hallelujah, Shaunna with Hey Soul Sister, Sammie with Valerie, Rose with Nine Crimes and Molly with Someone Like You began proceedings before the Gleeks took to the stage performing Sex on Fire and Your Song. The afternoon continued with more great songs from the group, and with the sun shining it was a fitting beginning to an eventful summer for the Freedom Road Collective who perform next at the Withersea Carnival on Saturday 30th.
